Today I have

1) tarted up my SGA fiction journal [livejournal.com profile] helenb119
2) commented over at [livejournal.com profile] alphabetasoup to change my SGA pairing
3) joined [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 and [livejournal.com profile] smut_69 with the new pairing
4) written loads of Love and War and Snow for... who was that now? God I have a sieve brain.

I'm also writing a second part called Tinsel and Ribbon. I'll let you all figure the rating out *grins*

So yes, I think it's safe to say that - for the moment - I'm a confirmed Rodney/Laura shipper. Cos they're fun and it works and it's FUN.

God I love smut *grins broadly*

I started writing Nettlewood this morning. It is apparently going to be a children's novel. Well that was unexpected. I've never written for children before which, considering I have five of the damn things, is either weird or lapse of me.

Anyhoo...

It sucks monkey balls but it's something. Let's call it a first draft and I refuse to edit until I have at least the first chapter done.

So that's it then.

Least the fireworks going off now are valid... *sniggers*

In very slightly related news chapter five of Long December is now up (I managed to get it up before midnight). And watching Jools has given me major fic bunnies for the final chapter and will kind of validate chapter six going up January.

So I've finally managed to do teh Rodney White Shadows/Hide & Seek vid that I've been whinging about.

It was an... interesting experience, to be honest. A lack of vid playback meant I had to remember which part of the song I was upto and play the clips whilst counting beats of the next part. Thank god I know about timing and crap. It also helps that I know both the song and the episode off by heart.

I've not actually been able to watch the video because the computer's being a pita. I might resave in a lower quality and see if I can get it to work.

For anyone else it's here (8mb)

Muwhahaha

You know, being a country fairly far north it's constant source of irritation that every year we go "omg snow!". It's winter people. And just days after Christmas - the day we wish was white. Well wishing it white means snow.

Apparently the roads are "dangerous". They have "claimed victims". Bollocks. Roads are inanimate objects, incapable of being dangerous. No, what is dangerous are the people out there with NO idea of how to drive on snow and/or ice. Revving the engine out of your car and jamming the accelerator down when the wheels start spinning is not how it's done.

Shesh.

The last time I had a driving lesson was over 15 years ago but I still remember that you start off in second gear (or even third) and go easy on the accelerator. And easy on the brakes. ABS will not stop you banging into the car in front when you leap on the brake pedal.

Save yourselves, other people and your insurance going through the roof and purchase a copy of the Driving Manual. Read it til you know it backwards.

And stop bloody moaning about a touch of bad weather. We don't have it bad - that was Indonseia and the Philippines last Boxing Day...

Listen to the winter wind
As it blows through the trees
Bare branches sketch bleak
Skeletons against the sky

Longer, pause and listen
To the wind through the trees
Hear the muted words
Whispered on a sigh

Beyond the range of hearing
Speaks the wind in the trees
Hopes the promise raise
The passing of winter nigh

Never that promise broken
By the wind through the trees
Again shall be filled
And the spring will come by
