Obviously ten years living with a person means some of their personality rubs off on you. I mean Helen 10 years ago would not have asked an artist to use their artwork for linkware. And she certainly would not have then offered to redesign the webset.
But dh is fairly cheeky when it comes to... everything really. He asked at the camping place that since we were buying a fair amount of stuff and paying by cash whether we could have a discount. It didn't work that time, but there have been other times when it has. His motto was "if you don't ask, you won't get".
I'm slowly learning that this is true. I know things don't just land in your lap, but on the other hand I was brought up believing that to ask outright is rude.
But twice this week has this attitude worked out in my favour. The first was throwing down the gauntlet to Mortgage Point to find us a mortgage. And they did. The second was to ask Griselda whether she wanted her site redesigned and she said yes.
So I have my first real commission. There's no money involved, but extending my portfolio and the free advertising is worth the time and effort. I was up ridiculously early this morning with an idea for design and I've already knocked up a few pages as a first draft.
Heh.
