You know, I'm really tired. I think maybe the 20 hours up on Saturday is beinning to tell. Hmm. Anyhoo, before I bog off to bed I thought I'd spam tell you how It is progressing.
Pretty damned well, to tell you the truth 2430 words. W00t.
And now, for the brave, an excerpt. Have hankies ready.
Rodney stood at the door, took a deep breath and ran the bell. Seconds dragged. After about a minute and still no answer, he began to wonder if he really did have the wrong house. Feeling oddly deflated he headed back to the car. He was almost at the gate when a voice stopped him dead.
“Rodney?”
He froze, then spun round, his eyes going wide. The door was open and the woman stood there staring at him in utter shock was immediately recognisable despite the intervening years.
“Jeannie,” he said with a brief nod, aiming for nonchalance and missing entirely as his voice caught slightly.
“Oh my god,” she said, lifting a shaking hand to her mouth. “It is you.”
“Hey,” he replied. He couldn't think of anything better to say.
Jeannie gave a choked sob and ran down the path. Rodney turned to her properly just in time to catch her as she threw herself into his arms, crying and laughing at the same time.
