A while ago I posted a fic inspired br morbid_sparks' prompt of "sock" that was post-smut. Iwas then asked to write the smutty bit. I finally got round to it.

I was really tempted to post this last night, but I wanted confirmation...

So this is what happened - yesterday I received an email from Craig, the guy whose site I'll be doing early May. Turns out his fiance is a photographer and she wants to start selling her snaps online. It's a big, big project and I quoted a three figure number that involved a "5" in it.

This morning I got a reply, accepting the quote.

I exploded all over morbid_sparks. This is huge. It's a big commission and it's just a little scary. I'm going to sit down at some point and figure out properly what income I have, what's outgoing and what projects are in progress.

And once that's done, I'll be registering self-employed.

Whoa.

Seventeenth today, eighteenth tomorrow. Which'll be the Natal Day of one David Ian Hewlett (IMDB puts his middle name as Ian - a small fact that amuses me utterly since that's my brother's name).

Anyway, I was browsing various ecard places (yeah, I know) but failed to find anything I considered right. I was after something very silly, or very childish. I was tempted by the cupcake decorated with bright pink icing and silver balls for a little while though.

Of course because I am sad and obsessed, I ended up making a card which I spent longer over than I'd like to admit. Though granted a large portion of that was cos PSP closed down on me halfway through the first attempt. Meh.

I'll post a link once I've posted the card, which will be tomorrow, funnily enough.

And on to the progress part of the post.

I was approached the other day to do a basic information site. The same guy's emailed me today with a huge commission that's worth a goodly amount of money. I'm also due to do another information site for one of H's mates in May and I have a site for a childminder lined up for June.

I think it's pretty safe to say things are taking off!
